2012 Federal Pay Period Calendar
The U.S. Federal pay period calendar follows a bi-weekly plan. Wages can vary based on number of hours a person worked within a pay period.
The 2012 Federal Pay Period Calendar begins officially on January 1. Thus, first pay period is from Jan 1 to 14, second one from January 15 to 28, next one from January 29 to February 11 and so on. The official payday always falls on a Thursday. The time and attendance reports are usually generated on the last Tuesday of every biweekly period. Time and attendance reports normally cover just one biweekly pay period.
Time and Attendance report must contain following data for each member of staff. First, it must include a worker’s name and an ID such as a social security number. Second comes the pay period number. One may replace this with pay period dates. For example, instead of Pay period 1, one may mention it as Pay Period from January 1 to 14. Next is the data on the total number of hours a worker worked for in this biweekly period. One computes an employee’s pay based on this data. If the member of staff is entitled for premium pay, then this report must contain the total number of hours and type of premium pay. In case of leave(s), the date, number of hours along with approval in writing and any additional supporting records or documentation must be furnished. An employee might have earned compensatory hours and even used some or all of them. This is important and the time and attendance report of 2012 Federal Pay Period Calendar must contain this data too. One will need to furnish any additional data that bureaus believe are essential.
Since the new fiscal year begins on October 1, the 2012 Federal Pay Period Calendar starts with second quarter of fiscal year 2011-2012.
