Federal Minimum Wage 2012

Although the federal minimum wage in 2012 may remain 7.25 dollars per hour, six states have announced an increase in their minimum wages effective january 1st 2012.

Arizona Minimum Wage 2012

The industrial commission of Arizona has announced an increase of 30-cent per hour and so the amount now is $7.65 per hour. An employer is eligible to pay his/her tipped employee $3 per hour. This is quite less than the minimum wage of $4.65 per hour.

Montana Minimum Wage 2012

The state announced an overall 30-cent increase in the wage, which makes it $7.65 per hour.

Florida Minimum Wage 2012

Unlike Arizona and Florida, the department of Economic Opportunity announced a rise of 36-cent and this makes it $7.67 per hour. The employer is supposed to pay the tipped employees a minimum of $4.65 per hour. The last time when Florida witnessed an increase in its wage was on June 1, 2011. The increase amounted to 6 cents per hour.

Oregon Minimum Wage 2012

The state of Oregon announced an increase of 30 cent per hour, which takes the amount upto $8.80 per hour.

Ohio Minimum Wage 2012

The Department of Commerce Ohio declared a 30 cent per hour rise. This makes it $7.70 per hour. The minimum wage for a tipped employee increases upto 15 cent per hour, making it $3.85 per hour. Additionally, the employers are now eligible to pay minors (aged 14 and 15) the federal minimum wage.

Colorado Minimum Wage 2012

The state of Colorado witnessed an increase of 28 cent, which makes it $7.64 per hour. The same hike is applicable for tipped employees and so they are eligible for $4.62 per hour.

Washington Minimum Wage 2012

The department of Labor and industries, Washington announced an increase of 37-cent per hour. This makes it $9.04 per hour.

The announcement of minimum wage in Vermont is still pending. Although last year, there was an announcement made that the representatives from the Department of Labor indicate that the rate will be announced somewhere in December.
