Free Federal Financial Aid Form (Fill Correctly FAFSA Form)
The form for federal student financial aid is known as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. FAFSA is the form used by nearly all two or four year colleges, career schools and universities for the awarding of federal student aid. The students should apply for FAFSA anytime after January 1. However, the perfect time to file FAFSA is between January 5 and February 15.
Students are required to fulfill the basic requirements before filling out and submitting the FAFSA. This includes:
- Individuals must be either US Nationals, US citizens or eligible non-citizens.
- Individuals must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Males are required to register with the US Selective service.
- Individuals must not have defaulted on any student loans or must not owe any refunds on federal student grants.
- While receiving Government financial assistance, individuals must not be found possessing any illegal substances.
- Individuals must possess a valid social security number.
Normally the deadline for completing and submitting the federal student financial aid form is June 30 at midnight Central Daylight time. However, the closing date for submitting corrections to the FAFSA is September 21, midnight Central Daylight time. It is important that the universities or colleges must have the right FAFSA information from the students by the last day of enrollment for any specific academic school year.
The FAFSA form can be filed by the students online. But before filling the form, they need to collect personal information, which includes:
- Current bank statements
- Social security number
- W-2 forms and any other proofs of money earned
- Any federal income tax returns
- In case of dependent students, parent’s federal income tax returns will be required
- Any business, investment and or mortgage information
- Permanent resident card for non US citizens

- Student marital status
- Parents’ level of education completed
- Tax information and parent earnings (if applicable)
